In his recent interview, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella revealed a powerful insight that is reshaping the landscape of AI and SaaS. Nadella spoke about how AI agents will disrupt traditional SaaS models, empowering businesses to scale operations, automate repetitive tasks, and ultimately drive growth with greater efficiency.

For those of us in Fractional C-roles, who are billing clients by number of days allocated, this is an opportunity to gear up towards automation to maximise customer value by leveraging AI to scale our efforts and impact.

My focus - Closing the gap between businesses and AI products

In my role, I am deeply involved in closing the gaps between businesses and AI-powered products, ensuring that the marketing strategies I implement are both highly customised and high-impact. I’ve signed myself up to the challenge of driving growth for clients with limited resources, who need results quickly. However, marketing requires a balance between strategy and the time-consuming, repetitive tasks (research, interviews, scanning websites and processing large volumes of data) that can quickly consume hours of my teams’ day—tasks that are often outsourced to agencies, adding an extra layer of cost.

With the rapid evolution of AI, it's essential for marketing teams to start testing new tools to save time and scale their impact.

The power of Agentic AI - Introducing the WordLift Agent

Agentic AI is a game-changer when it comes to automating marketing workflows. I knew it was time to experiment starting with the one closest to home - the WordLift Agent.

By automating marketing workflows that are heavy on research, strategy formulation, and content creation, the WordLift Agent has dramatically changed how my team at WordLift approaches marketing campaigns.

Here is how Agentic AI is optimising marketing efforts:

  1. Speed to Impact: Streamlining my workflows, speeding up campaign launches and ensuring that the right initiatives reach the market faster.

  2. Resource Efficiency: With limited resources, I need to maximise the output of every action. WordLift Agent helps me automate tasks such as running Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) research, identifying content gaps, and designing tailored content strategies, all while keeping a sharp focus on revenue generation.

  3. Design ICP-Specific Content Strategies: Using AI to create tailored content strategies for different customer profiles ensures that we’re speaking directly to our ideal customer, increasing engagement and conversions

  4. Customised Marketing Programs: I can analyse vast amounts of data and adjust strategies in real-time. This means that I am able to provide my clients with marketing programs that are specifically tailored to their unique needs and market conditions.

My process:

  • I began by defining and confirming the Ideal Customer Profile (ICP). Rather than sifting through endless customer data manually, I let the AI do the heavy lifting, research, analysing patterns and providing insights in real-time. This immediately boosted the speed and accuracy of the process, and I was able to move on to the next steps much faster.

  • Once the ICP was in place, the next task was tailoring the content strategy. By using AI to identify content gaps and leverage existing assets, I was able to refine the product’s messaging and create a targeted content plan that directly addressed the needs of our defined audience. This ensured that the product-market fit was solid and that our campaign strategy would be impactful in generating more demos booked, moving us closer to the end goal of increasing revenue

AI has already shown tremendous promise in reshaping how marketing functions. And as Satya Nadella rightly pointed out, AI agents are poised to disrupt SaaS models and unlock new potential. For marketers like myself, this is a call to embrace AI not just as a tool, but as a game-changer. The journey with the WordLift Agent is just beginning, and I’m excited to see where it takes me. I’ll be tracking the results, refining my strategies, and sharing the lessons I learn along the way. Stay tuned for updates as I continue to experiment with AI to unlock new efficiencies, drive more impact, and scale my marketing workflows.

Marketing Teams: From Executors to Experts

In 2025, one of my primary goals is to empower my teams to move away from performing repetitive tasks and research, customise marketing activities and scale impact. By outsourcing these functions to tools like WordLift, we free up valuable time. This allows marketing teams to focus on higher-level activities, such as strategy development and tackling new challenges. Teams will become subject matter experts, continuously improving the value they bring to the business.

The future is here, and it’s powered by AI.
